Kris Bowers, who grew up here in Wellington Square, will be performing this weekend on Sunday, March 16th at 5pm at Amoeba Music in Hollywood in a concert sponsored by KKJZ 88.1 – in conjunction with the release of his debut album on the Concord label last week. The album is called “Heroes + Misfits”. (You can check it out on iTunes – it’s a fantastic album!)
Kris has been spending his time recently on tour and in New York City – after attending Julliard for his undergraduate and masters degrees, winning the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Piano Competition at the Kennedy Center, and collaborating on a recording with Kanye West. Kris is currently touring with a quintet from his new album. His parents, Eric & Kim, still live over on Victoria Ave. – and are incredibly proud is his achievements.
You can check out a video of Kris performing at http://bit.ly/1fi8P1Y.
You can read more about the concert and Kris’ work by clicking on the link below. If you’re free Sunday evening, then head to Hollywood for what will surely be a great performance!

If you live, work, or participate in the Mid-City NC area, please join us for a meeting with Mayor Eric Garcetti, regarding how funds are being spent and how future funds will be allocated in our neighborhood.
• Want more parks?
• Feel that our roads are in poor shape?
• Is crime an issue?
• How are businesses welcomed into the area?
All of these things and more are affected by how the city chooses to spend its money in our area. This is your chance to have your voice heard – let the City know what’s most important to you, your family, and your community.
This meeting is open to all in our neighborhood – when you RSVP, just list yourself as a “Stakeholder” with the Mid-City NC. We’d really like to have a strong MINC presence at this meeting. We hope you can join us.
