Mayor’s Crisis Response Team — Applications & Flyer for Fall 2013 Class Now Available!


The Mayor’s Crisis Response Team (CRT) is looking for volunteers to participate in the Fall 2013 class and become active CRT volunteers.

ABOUT THE MAYOR’S CRISIS RESPONSE TEAM: Members of the Mayor’s Crisis Response Team (CRT) are volunteers who respond to traumatic incidents at the request of the Los Angeles Police and Los Angeles Fire Departments. CRT volunteers provide immediate on-scene crisis intervention, act as a liaison between the victim and emergency personnel and give referrals to victims and their families affected by a death, a violent crime or other traumatic incidents. These incidents include homicides, suicides, serious traffic accidents, natural deaths and multi-casualty incidents. During the required seven week training to be a member of the Mayor’s Crisis Response Team you will be provided the background, information, training and support to be able to respond to crisis situations as a member of the Mayor’s Crisis Response Team.

Upcoming CERT Training – September 15th at 6PM

As was reported by the WSIA Safety Committee chairperson, Cheryl Franklin, at the General Body meeting yesterday, there is another opportunity for CERT Training in our area coming up in September.

CERT training provides citizens to assist paramedics in the event an emergency – search and rescue, CPR, extinguishing incipient fires, etc.  The next training seminars will be hosted by the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Ladera Senior Center

Emergency Preparedness Guide Available Online

A comprehensive guide in English and Spanish for emergency preparedness designed to help people prepare for and recover from disasters is available today at Los Angeles County’s website, www.lacounty.gov.

The guide published by the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management is available under “Hot Topics in LA County,” in the residents, business and publications sections.

The guide contains 100 pages of tips and information about preparing for fires, floods, earthquakes, pandemic flu, terrorism, extreme weather and tsunamis.

The guide features checklists for gathering emergency supplies intended to help individuals, families, pet owners, businesses and communities survive and recover from a major disaster.
