Attention all business owners: the City of Los Angeles is offering a tax penalty waiver through December 2. If you have not yet fulfilled the requirements, now is the time.
The tax amnesty applies to the following taxes: Business; Telephone, Electricity & Gas Users; Commercial Tenant’s Occupancy; Transient Occupancy; and Parking Occupancy for businesses who have unpaid taxes, under-reported gross receipts, or who are not registered.
Delinquent taxpayers will have the opportunity to clear their tax debt without paying any of the normally required penalties, which can amount up to the equivalent of 40% of the principal tax due.
To qualify for the Tax Amnesty all of the following requirements must be met between September 1, 2013 and December 2, 2013:
- All principal, interest, and fees must be paid.
- You must sign and return the Tax Amnesty Billing notice. (Any penalties paid prior to September 1, 2013 will not be eligible for a refund.)
- If you are currently registered with the Office of Finance and have received a bill for outstanding taxes, you may file for amnesty and pay your bill online at Amnesty Online Bill Pay.
For more information, visit the Office of Finance online or call (213) 473-5901.

MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA AND GOLDMAN SACHS JOIN TOGETHER TO LAUNCH 10,000 SMALL BUSINESSES INITIATIVE IN LOS ANGELES
The Effort will drive economic growth and create jobs by providing 20 million in small business loans and by subsidizing business education
LOS ANGELES – Mayor Villaraigosa announced that Los Angeles would join The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. 10,000 Small Businesses Initiative. The initiative will drive economic growth and create jobs by providing $20 million in small business loans and by subsidizing business education.
“I am proud of the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Business Policy’s work in bringing Goldman Sachs’ 10,000 Small Business Initiative to Los Angeles, since our number one priority is getting the people of Los Angeles back to work,” Mayor Villaraigosa said. “Not only will this investment set in motion job creation at the most grassroots level, but it will have a real impact on the lives of the 70% of Angelenos that are employed by small businesses by granting them the
opportunity to expand their entrepreneurial enterprise through education, loans, and networking.”
