Learn more about “hoarding” and the Code Enforcement’s inspection and referral process when Code Enforcement Inspectors encounter hoarding situations.
Excessive clutter accumulation in a home may make it difficult to fully utilize the dwelling’s facilities and may lead to safety concerns. Serious levels of hoarding may lead to blocked rooms and pathways, accumulation of waste, unsanitary and hazardous living conditions.
Cory Chalmers and Robert McKeever, featured experts on A & E’s “Hoarders” program, will discuss understanding the problems associated with hoarding, types of hoarders and personalities prone to this disorder, as well as resources available to help families and friends to assist with this problem. Mr. Chalmers and Mr. McKeever are hoarding and biohazard specialists and trainers with Steri-Clean Inc., a company dedicated to providing help for hoarders, including hoarding clean up and remediation. HCIDLA’s Code Enforcement Division will provide a presentation on issuance of orders, citations, and the City referral process.
The workshops will be presented by the Los Angeles Housing and Community Investment Department’s Code Enforcement Division and Steri-Clean, Inc.
