WAHA NEEDS YOU
to attend Tuesday’s Community Planning Hearing
A public forum to discuss the West Adams Community Plan is tomorrow evening –
Tuesday, January 15th, 2013
Nate Holden Performing Arts Center
4718 W. Washington Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90016
beginning with an Open House at 5:00 p.m. and followed by the actual hearing that starts at 7:00. This plan as currently drafted could have a vital – AND NEGATIVE – impact on the historic properties that make up our neighborhoods.
The city wants to add 250,000 housing units over the next 20 years- with 60,000 of those to be added to our area! The West Adams-Baldwin Hills-Leimert Park zone would have 20,000 of those units (West of Arlington/South of Pico.) The South LA Plan (which impacts our neighborhoods from Arlington-Figueroa) adds another 40,000. That’s almost 25% of the entire growth being targeted into our historic area!!!
Please plan on attending. This is probably the single most important decision that any WAHA member could make!
This Plan – if approved – would have a greater impact (both positive and negative) on our historic neighborhoods than almost any other action in the past two decades. Remember our motto: “Creating our Future by Preserving our Past.” This is our chance to show how much we care about the future of our neighborhoods.
