Mid-City Electric Car Maker Releases New Vehicle

As most of you know CODA electric car company has a non sales facility here in MINC area at Apple Street and Fairfax.

Here is an article on their electric sedan.

New electric car hits market: Coda starts at $37,250

The 2012 Coda electric sedan finally went on sale in California this week with a starting price of $37,250 plus $895 shipping. The pricing is a significant drop from earlier estimates of $44,900, though it’s still more expensive than the 2012 Nissan Leaf, which starts at $35,200.

The Coda qualifies for California’s $2,500 EV rebate and the federal government’s $7,500 tax credit.

The model now on sale is slightly smaller and less powerful than the one that Los Angeles-based Coda showed off originally, according to Consumer Reports.

For the price, you get an electric motor rated 134 horsepower and 221 pounds-feet of torque mated to a single-speed transmission. The electric motor is capable of an electronically limited 85 mph and can be charged in six hours with a 240-volt charger. The Coda also comes with a 7-inch touch-screen and GPS navigation standard.

The 31-kilowatt/hour lithium-ion-phosphate battery pack gives the Coda an EPA-estimated range of 88 miles on a charge, better than the Leaf’s estimated range of 73 miles.

The Coda is currently available for test drives and purchase in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Irvine, Calif. More cities will follow. The car shell is built in China and the drivetrain is installed in the U.S.
