On December 29, 2011, the California Supreme Court ruled that Assembly Bill x126 (the “dissolution act” dissolving all redevelopment agencies in California) is constitutional and Assembly Bill x127 (the “alternative redevelopment program act” that would have allowed continued operations provided that agreements were made to make payments to fund schools and special districts) is unconstitutional.
Therefore As of January 31, 2012 CRA/LA will cease to exist. A new successor entity will be responsible for the administration of redevelopment and all its activities, including the dissolution and winding down of the CRA/LA. Unfortunately, due to these recent changes CACs and PACs will no longer be needed to provide an advisory position for redevelopment.
